Who we are
Our vision is to be the most trusted Canadian provider of autonomous systems for the people who work on Canada's coasts and in its northern waters: scientists, defence and security operators, and commercial industry.
Where we come from
Resolute Autonomy is built on a family history of northern aviation. Our founder was inspired by his father, an aviation pioneer who ran Canada's largest northern airline and was instrumental in establishing the first dependable, scheduled flight services to remote Arctic communities. We build to the same standard: dependable service in unforgiving environments.
Today that mission is maritime. We build uncrewed surface vessels and design the software that commands them: sensor fusion, navigation autonomy, and compliance systems engineered to meet the standards of government and defence operations. Our first vessel is on the water now. As a Canadian-owned company we build domestically and buy Canadian components wherever they exist, for security of supply.
The founder
Resolute Autonomy was founded by Michael Jamieson. He spent fifteen years designing and deploying perception systems for autonomous operations around the world. At Neptec Design Group he worked on lunar lidars and sensor fusion. He was lidar lead for the 2017 Rolls-Royce Marine and Svitzer trials of the world’s first remotely operated commercial vessel, and has delivered perception projects with industry leaders in autonomy. He has worked as a Space Sensor advisor for MDA Space's Robotics and Space Operations division. He currently leads sensor and sensor-fusion work on a humanitarian demining project in Ukraine.
Advisors
Bill founded Greyline Instruments, a Canadian electronic instrument manufacturer, and as its president directed research and development, production, and engineering. He brings more than thirty years of Canadian electronics manufacturing experience. He advises Resolute Autonomy on design for manufacture and on standing up production as the vessel line grows.
